FREQUENT MASONRY PROBLEMS
The role of the angle iron is to support the masonry located above the doors and windows. Over time, inclement weather and humidity, the angle iron will rust and swell.
A rusty angle iron must be replaced quickly. Without this replacement, the brick will lean directly on the door or window creating breakages and openings. In addition, large cracks will appear, water infiltration, disjunction of the bricks, swelling of the brick wall and in all probability a collapse of the masonry.
Replace the rusted angle iron with a new galvanized steel. Then, add a self-adhesive BlueskinTM membrane to it, ensuring water drainage and better protection against rust.
It is important to make sure that your angle irons are in good condition before changing your windows, to avoid unpleasant surprises.
